About hated people!!!
Have a look to the CraigNotBond project where people is getting signatures to boycot the new Bond Film: Casino Royale.
The problem came with the replacement of Pierce Brosnan by Daniel Craig. Obviously, Bond is an stereotype of tall, dark and brown hair man. A short and blonde guy doesn't fit the character.
The comparison with the best Bond ever is really bad.
From my point of view there are just two actors that could make a good Bond right now: Clive Owen and Patrick Bateman (also know as Christian Bale).

I think that a blond Bond is the logic consequence of the progression of this character. In the start up, 007 was a scottish "macho" that became to a mysterious man with Moore. It looked that Dalton would kill the myth with two movies to be forgotten. With this guy you never knew if he was the good or the evil. Then, the light, the gentleman. Remington give back the life to Bond and now ... no comments about this poof.
